My name is Saumirah McWoodson, and I am a second grade teacher in Sacramento, California. I have worked in education for over a decade, including founding my own dance education organizations–Dance Daze, Inc. and Dance Daze in Schools.
My philosophy as an educator includes creating environments where students are inspired to become lifelong learners. I believe that students can be challenged at all levels of learning and I take pride in developing a strong sense of self-efficacy in my students. Creating opportunities for students to integrate movement, music, visual arts, and technology into their academic work is a passion of mine and I aim to do this each week in my classroom.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of the Pacific. I volunteer locally as a member of the Junior League of Sacramento and as an advocate for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
I hope that parents, students, and fellow educators will find my teacher website helpful!
